After more than 15 years of fielding problems with Windows, people getting into trouble with this feature has never come up. Change your mind? You can undo this operation. Now navigate to the destination folder, right-click any blank part of the background, and choose Paste from the context menu to complete the move. If you change your mind you can tap the Escape key to release them. All the objects in the selection appear grayed out, indicating they are in the clipboard, and will be deleted if you paste them elsewhere. There's really no attempt to maximize the potential of the screen real estate. What's most needed is an attempt by Finder to automatically resize the columns so that they display all or nearly all of 80% of the filenames.
